A 10 minute educational video on how to Destroy My Jeep!

We purchased this Jeep brand new for over $49,000 in 2010 and it was riddled with problems from day one (it dropped a fuel line before we even got off the dealers driveway so we had to leave without the car that day!)

Within the first 14 months it had incurred 9 issues and 2 additional breakdowns which both required tow trucks.

I then fought with the dealer and Fiat Chrysler Group Australia to replace this lemon or refund my money for a further 3 years while incurring many additional problems and another 3 total failures!

Australia doesn't have a "Lemon Law", so the dealer and the importer just laughed at me when I asked for a refund or replacement.

After 22 issues and 6 total failures of this vehicle I decided NOT to trade in or on-sell my problem vehicle to someone else, so we destroyed my Jeep on 4th October 2014.

The media ran the story on ALL national news stations that evening and there were many radio interviews to follow.

Q. Why would I go to such extremes?

A. I've had many other people approach me who are in similar positions as I was (stuck with a Lemon car) so I ran this event to raise awareness for a review of the Australian Consumer Law to protect people who purchase a new motor vehicle.

On a another note, my workmate's wife works for the department of fair trading here in Australia. The amount of calls they get about Jeep is phenomenal, there are so many issues with them. Same thing in the US?

KK-platform Liberties/Cherokees do not have a reputation for being reliable here either.

I love the drill, best part. Yeah, consumer protection laws are no joke!

I have a 2008 Liberty, and it's been pretty good. Mine gets used pretty hard, both taking me snowboarding in the winter and towing my motorcycle trailer in the summer.

So far, the only thing it has needed beyond recommended maintenance and normal wear & tear is new front wheel bearings, an AC compressor, and a rear pinion seal.

The suspension is starting to get a bit worn out, so an upgrade in that dept will be next on the list.
